On these 3 days you will learn how to make beautiful hand made curtains.
The course covers all aspects of making hand made curtains, starting on day one with a simple hand made lined curtain. Day 2 we will start to produce a beautiful hand made interlined curtain which will be finished with a buckram topped triple or double pleat we finish this by lunchtime and in the afternoon we make an Eyelet Curtain.
You will go home full of enthusiasm and excitement and all ready to get going on making your home look beautiful.
Day 1
Meet for coffee at 9.30 and get to know your fellow class mates. Start at 10 o’clock with a brief introduction regarding various equipment, poles and tracks, when and how to use both.
Simple Lined Curtain using commercial pencil pleat heading tape.
We start by talking through items needed to make successful curtains, workshop items, which heading to use on what fixings and loads more information.
We then go onto start with learning how to measure and calculate fabric quantities using pattern repeat.
You will then cut out the fabric and lining for our first curtain.
Break for lunch.
In the afternoon session you will continue to assemble our curtain learning how to mitre the corners, insert weights and learn how to attach heading tape.
Learn how to hang and professionally dress in our finished curtain.
Day 2
Meet for coffee at 9.30, start at 10 o’clock.
Two width Lined and Interlined Curtain finished with a Hand Made Triple, Double or Goblet Heading using buckram.
This morning you learn more on calculating fabric using pattern repeats and how to join and pattern match fabrics. Talk through the different type of lining and interlining.
Cut out fabrics, lining and interlining and start to make up a two width curtain.
Break for lunch.
This afternoon you will continue to make up your lined and interlined curtain inserting buckram for the triple, double and goblet pleats.
Day 3
Meet for coffee at 9.30, start at 10 o’clock.
This morning you will finish your lined and interlined curtain by calculating and inserting your various pleats.
You will hang your curtain and learn how to dress your curtain in to a professional standard.
Break for lunch.
Eyelet Heading Curtain
This afternoon you will learn how to calculate and make up a lined Eyelet top curtain.
We continue to learn more regarding fabric, pattern repeats, different types of fabric, lining and interlining to use.
Question and answer time
We will discuss and have an overview of the last three days and make sure you understand all you have learnt and answer any questions there might be.
